Canada Day Recap

For Canada Day 2011 in Ottawa, we partnered with the National Capital Commission to manage a Charter Project kiosk at Major’s Hill Park as a part of the official Canada Day festivities.

We were met with an overwhelmingly positive response. Visitors to the booth were welcomed with an impressive visual display, including an eye-catching enormous photo of the April 17, 1982 signing of the Charter on Parliament Hill by Queen Elizabeth II and Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau. We also showcased a video featuring Windsor Law professors, students, and lawyers discussing the Charter. Those lucky enough to visit the booth early walked away with a bilingual copy of the Charter, courtesy of Heritage Canada.

With a record crowd out to see Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the Charter Project kiosk interacted with over 1,000 Canadians over the course of the beautiful day.

Our kiosk could not have happened without the financial support of the County of Carleton Law Association as well as personal donors.
